This was a painting that I did a couple years ago in a class that I took. I used Alkyd oil paints on this one. I am currently CONSIDERING working on a Daily Painting project using oils to improve my painting skills. It all looks so easy, but doing Alla Prima work requires much more knowledge than I currently possess. Or experience, or both.
I'm not sure why it is so difficult to create a small painting every day, but for me it is. I envy people that have that much discipline!

DeleteI have thought about jumping on the "Painting a Day" craze, even if it was for a short time - Week? Month? But it is not how I naturally work.
ReplyDeleteDiane, I was successful doing it for 12 weeks a few years ago. It really is difficult for me because I RARELY complete a painting Alla Prima, or in one sitting. I had to go to a small 6 x 6" format and make very simple pieces to stay on track with that project.
DeleteNormally, I have a dozen or more pieces in progress at any given time. People have been doing these Painting a Day projects for years now, but that was my only successful experience with it. I'm not disciplined enough.
